Discover How Your Brain is Functioning and What to Do About It
Quantitative EEG (qEEG) brain mapping is a non-invasive scan that measures how your brain is functioning compared to healthy norms. Your complimentary qEEG provides insight into brainwave patterns associated with focus, mood, stress, sleep, and cognitive performance. After your scan, our clinical team reviews your results and discusses whether a personalized neurofeedback or integrative care program may be appropriate for your goals.
What Is qEEG Brain Mapping?
Quantitative EEG (qEEG) brain mapping is a non-invasive assessment that measures how your brain is functioning in real time. Using small sensors placed on the scalp, we record electrical activity and compare it to large normative databases to identify patterns related to regulation, focus, mood, stress response, and cognitive performance.
Unlike imaging that looks at brain structure, qEEG evaluates brain function, helping us understand how different areas of the brain are communicating and where support may be helpful.
What Can a Brain Map Reveal?
A qEEG brain map does not diagnose medical or psychiatric conditions. Instead, it evaluates brainwave activity and compares it to age-matched normative data to better understand how different areas of the brain are functioning and communicating.
These comparisons help identify areas where brain activity may fall within, above, or below expected ranges. Patterns outside typical ranges may suggest relative inefficiency or dysregulation in how the brain regulates attention, stress response, emotional processing, and cognitive performance.
Based on these findings, brain mapping may highlight patterns commonly associated with challenges related to:
-
Focus and attention regulation
-
Stress response and emotional regulation
-
Sleep quality and recovery
-
Cognitive efficiency and mental clarity
-
Mood stability and adaptability
Findings are interpreted in context and used to inform individualized recommendations rather than definitive conclusions.
What to Expect During Your Appointment
Step 1: Brain Mapping Session
You’ll sit comfortably while sensors are placed on your scalp to record brain activity. The scan is painless, non-invasive, and typically takes about 30 minutes.
Step 2: Data Analysis
Your brain activity is analyzed and compared to normative patterns to identify areas related to regulation, performance, and recovery.
Step 3: Results Review
A provider reviews your results with you and discusses what the findings may indicate, along with appropriate next steps if additional support is recommended.
How We Use Your Results
Your brain map helps guide personalized recommendations. Depending on your goals and findings, this may include neurofeedback, integrative therapies, or supportive modalities designed to improve regulation and overall brain health.
There is no obligation to continue care. The brain map is designed to provide clarity and direction, whether or not you choose to move forward with additional services.
qEEG FAQ
Is qEEG brain mapping safe?
Yes. qEEG brain mapping is non invasive and does not involve stimulation, radiation, or medication. Sensors placed on the scalp simply record natural electrical activity produced by the brain. The process is painless and considered very low risk.
How long does the brain mapping appointment take?
The brain mapping session itself typically takes about 30 minutes. Please allow additional time for check in and brief preparation. Your results are reviewed separately and discussed during your consultation.
Does a qEEG diagnose medical or psychiatric conditions?
No. A qEEG brain map does not diagnose medical or psychiatric conditions. It evaluates brainwave activity and compares it to age matched normative data to identify patterns that may suggest areas of dysregulation or inefficiency. Results are interpreted in clinical context and used to guide individualized recommendations.
Do I need to prepare for my brain scan?
You may be asked to avoid caffeine, alcohol, or certain supplements prior to your appointment. Specific instructions will be provided when your appointment is confirmed to help ensure accurate data collection.
What happens after my brain mapping session?
After your scan, a provider reviews your results and discusses what the findings may indicate. If appropriate, recommendations may include neurofeedback or other integrative therapies. There is no obligation to continue care beyond the evaluation.
Is the complimentary brain scan really free?
Yes. The complimentary qEEG brain scan is offered once per person. A credit card is required to reserve your appointment, but you will not be charged unless you cancel or miss your appointment with less than 24 hours notice. In those cases, a $50 no show fee applies. Because appointment time and clinical resources are reserved specifically for you. The card is used only to enforce the cancellation policy and helps us maintain availability for all patients. You will not be charged for attending your appointment.
